When your retail store is hit by a hurricane, tornado, major windstorm, fire, or other unexpected disaster, you don’t just want someone to come in and remove the debris, leaving you with an empty box and no idea what to do next. You want a partner who can help you protect your investments and get your store reopened as quickly as possible.
Disaster doesn’t have to spell the end for your store, location, or brand. As you overcome this unpredictable hurdle, you don’t just want help made-for-hire; you’ll want a partner who is just as invested in your future as you are, who can help you recover from disaster with an eye toward restoration and reopening.

First and foremost, in many cases with disaster recovery, step one is to remove the debris. Whether your store and products are floating into a flooded street, or the very roof over your head has caved in, Mid-America can help you clear out your store with a future-minded approach. Disasters happen, but they don’t last forever. You will reopen, and when you do, you want to make sure that your debris cleanout team was mindful of your future.
We approach disaster relief the same way we approach any other fixture removal and installation project: with highly-trained teams who have direct experience working with fixtures. Unlike some more general disaster-response teams, our teams know what they’re looking at when they walk into your back room or help you with removing debris and damaged shelving. Our teams know how to break down your fixtures mindfully, ensuring that they don’t cause extra damage to either your fixtures or your store. Unless you’ve requested for our team to pull everything out and scrap it, we’ll be approaching your store to look for what can be salvaged—not just removing and scrapping blindly.
Some disaster relief teams come with a dumpster and leave you with an empty box. They’ll help you check “cleanout” off your to-do list. We’ll help you keep an eye on reopening, which requires more than a simple box tick. For each fixture we look at, we’ll be discerning whether it can be repaired, refurbished, stored, or re-sold to help you protect your initial investment into each piece of equipment. We won’t take a fixture with years of life still available to the dumpster. We are also mindful of what we take out of a store, and won’t mishandle any scrap metal, or pull out more than we need to.
When disaster strikes, sometimes store owners have to make quick decisions for the good of the brand. If you need your store cleared out of debris and fixtures as part of a decommissioning, we can help with that, too. We'll help you sell or recycle your fixtures, saving them from the landfill, and prioritizing financial recovery in the wake of disaster. We won’t take out more than we should, and we’ll leave your store in broom-swept condition to the best of our ability. Our fixture harvesting and decommissioning experts won’t cause extra damage to your store on the way out, and you can safely turn your focus to your other locations.
While we are headquartered in Ohio, we have expert fixture teams across the United States. Our teams are quick and modular, located nearby so they can jump into action immediately to get commerce moving again.
If you need time to assess and repair the damage to your fixtures and equipment, we can get your product moving again on temporary or rental fixtures. Rather than waiting for refurbishment to be completed, our teams can harvest and ship your fixtures, even housing them at our third-party warehouses in the meanwhile, and can get you set up with professionally installed rental fixtures. As your community recovers, you can help recovery by offering your products, even as your original fixtures are being repaired.

Whether you’re looking to store excess product while you repair a back room or storage facility, or need a place to store your fixtures as they undergo repair and refurbishment, our third-party warehousing is the service your team needs. Our freight teams will get your fixtures to our facilities, where our professional sales team will have already helped you maximize your storage using our tried-and-true optimization methods. When you’re ready to retrieve your fixtures, we’ll ship them back to you and install them professionally, keeping your reopened store running all the while.
Whether you’re recovering from flooding, storms, hurricane winds, or fire, some of your fixtures will have incurred damage and need to be fixed or replaced. While your store is back to “open” with our rental fixtures supplementing damaged sections, we’ll work on replacing and refurbishing the impacted equipment.
Our industry-leading refurbishment teams use electrostatic painting to restore the original luster to your fixtures. We can perform small repairs, getting your fixtures back to the quality your brand expects, so you can be proud to store your product on your reinvigorated shelves. When our on-site teams determine a fixture is worthy of salvaging, our refurbishment teams will get it back in working order. When you’re ready, we’ll get your FF&E back to your store, removing any rental fixtures on your behalf.

In extreme circumstances, like fire or hurricane damage, some fixtures will be beyond the point of restoration. In those cases, Mid-America is proud to be the largest stocking distributor of used Lozier and Gondola-style shelving and can help you find the right fixture to replace what couldn’t be rescued from the landfill. With our extensive fixture stock, we are likely to have what you need in the style you need it already in-house. When we don’t have your preferred fixture in stock, we are often able to create it by making minor modifications to fixtures within our inventory. When we don’t have it, and we aren’t able to modify it, we’ll find the fixture you need by leveraging our extensive FF&E network. We only sell quality 7 or higher fixtures, so you can proudly shelve your product on used fixtures from Mid-America, even in the wake of disaster. We are also proud to offer high-quality used backroom and s-series shelving, so if your storage solutions were adversely affected, we can help.
Disasters happen. And when they do, you can rely on Mid-America to act with speed, integrity, and a quality of service you won’t find elsewhere. Our teams will act quickly, helping you get your store reopened, so you can restart commerce, even as your original fixtures are being repaired or re-finished. But we are more than just a disaster-response team.
Here at Mid-America Store Fixtures, we don’t just want to be a one-time help to you and your team; we want to be your partner for all things retail. We can help you as you expand, remodel, open a new location, relocate, close, reopen, ship product, store product, and more. We’re here to help you through success, maintenance, growth, and even disaster.
